Spanish Farmhouse with Pool for Holiday Rentals in Beautiful Scenic Location in Andalucia.

La Amapola is a restored 3 bedroom Spanish farmhouse with large private swimming pool and beautiful gardens and terraces, situated in the hills overlooking Lake Vinuela and close to the white hilltop village of Periana, with excellent local restaurants, village shops, and tapas bars.

Outside
The farmhouse and pool are set in 3 acres of private land, with huge old olive and holm oak trees, surrounded by vine-covered terraces and pretty gardens. The gardens are lush with a profusion of flowering and scented climbers as well as herbs and fruit trees including pomegranate, apricot and peach. Guests can help themselves to fruit from the fruit trees as well as lemongrass, mint, laurel and more from the well stocked herb garden. A wide terrace stretches the length of the house, and a large dining table and built-in outdoor barbecue/kitchen area enable meals to be taken alfresco under the shade of the vines or in the open under the stars.

6 sets of French doors lead onto beautiful gardens full of tropical and Mediterranean plants and flowering climbers.

House
The house is very spacious, comfortably equipped and tastefully furnished, with big mirrors, polished original tiled floors, wide beds and fresh flowers. The house sleeps 6 to 8, with three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and open plan kitchen dining area. The interior is cool and airy even in high summer, thanks to the high ceilings with ceiling fans and the numerous sets of french doors leading out to the terraces and gardens. The house has a very individual feel with lots of little artistic touches. Look out for the lizard motifs, the handmade mosaics and the gorgeous miniature perfume bottle collection. A door leads from the kitchen-diner into a cosy den with French doors onto a terrace with corner seating. There are hundreds of books plus TV, DVD and video, a large collection of films and a stereo and lots of CDs.

A step leads down from here to the pretty ground floor bedroom with doors leading onto a terrace garlanded with flowering climbers. On the first floor the spacious double bedroom benefits again from the spectacular views, with French doors opening out onto a raised terrace with seating for two which can also be accessed from the garden. An en-suite shower/WC is shared with the third bedroom which has two small double beds, one on a mezzanine platform.

Bedroom 1 opens onto its own wisteria covered terrace with corner seating. Bedroom 2 opens onto a roof terrace with panoramic views. There is a separate breakfast terrace with corner seating and a small Moroccan table alongside the property.

Pool
The very large private swimming pool (10 x 5m) is surrounded by a terracotta terrace with a shaded area, 6 sun-loungers and a pool shower. There is a separate viewing terrace above the pool with staggering views of the surrounding countryside.

Location
La Amapola is is hidden away on a secluded hillside but close to the bustling market village of Periana, only half an hour from the coast and an hour from the Alhambra Palace.

The Axarquia is an area of outstanding natural beauty with lakes, mountains and "pueblos blancos" to explore. Inland Andalucia offers a taste of "real Spain", with wonderful tapas bars and restaurants, markets and historic sites.

The nearest airports are Malaga and Granada, both about an hour’s drive, and the nearest beach is Torre del Mar, about half an hour’s drive. Nerja is a further 15 minutes drive.

Accommodation
La Amapola sleeps 6 in 3 double bedrooms each with double bed. There is a folding bed for an additional child and cot on request.

There is also a platform bed which can sleep 2 additional adults. This bed is reached by a vertical ladder and is therefore not suitable for young children, the elderly or infirm.

The house is fully equipped with washing machine; dishwasher; ceiling fans; wood-burning fireplaces; portable radiators; wall safe; built-in outdoor barbecue/kitchen; cool box. Plus: Library, TV & Video; DVD; stereo and large collection of CDs.

For children there’s a library of books and films; Selection of board games; Cot and/or highchair on request.

Private swimming pool: 10 x 5m; 1-2.4m deep; serviced twice weekly; pool lighting; pool shower; pool and terrace furniture.

Services: WiFi Broadband Internet for all guests; Weekly linen change; towels provided; welcome pack and house book with local information provided on arrival; Optional weekly cleaning service can be provided upon request.

Prices are per week inclusive of electricity, bedlinen, etc for a maximum of 6 people plus baby and 1 additional child. The house can accommodate up to 8 adults using the platform bed. This bed is approached by a vertical stepladder and is therefore not suitable for young children, the elderly or infirm. Additional guests over and above 6 adults, 1 baby and 1 child will be charged at an additional pro-rata rate. Changeover day is Saturday. Arrival after 6pm, departure by 9.30am. A 25% non refundable deposit is payable on booking with the balance due 60 days before arrival.
