Reached via winding mountain roads, Cómpeta is a huddle of brilliant white houses tumbling down the hillside, surrounded by vineyards. A Moorish settlement in origin, Cómpeta, now famous for its wine, gives a taste of 'the real Spain'. With its restaurants, cafes, bars and shops Cómpeta is ideally situated for walking in the mountains, sightseeing or lazing on the beach!

Calle Carreteria is one of the streets leading off Competa’s main square, Plaza Almijara. The rental property is a renovated townhouse with a magnificent feature fireplace. Located centrally, only moments from the nearest bar where you can get a good breakfast, a prime location for viewing the Noche del Vino and other events taking place in the plaza and within easy reach of supermarkets, the weekly market, and for walks to the countryside, it is a good base for exploring both the village and the natural park. Although in the heart of Competa, Calle Carreteria is a peaceful place to holiday. The benefit of renting a townhouse is that it is not necessary to rent a car. The owners can organise a taxi from the airport and there is also a good bus service serving Torre del Mar on the coast, with connections to Malaga.

The ground floor comprises a fully equipped kitchen and dining room. The first floor consists of a lounge with digital Satellite TV, DVD and CD/radio, a bedroom with full (adult) sized bunk beds and a bathroom. The second floor consists of the master bedroom with double, cast iron bed, and ensuite bathroom. The third floor consists of a summer kitchen and roof terrace with views over the surrounding hillsides towards the village of Corumbella and the coast – a real sun trap!

Being so central, the house is within easy reach of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy excellent fayre. There is a full information pack in the house of places to go, things to do and see, walks, horse riding and other facilities in the area. There are some great walks in the mountains, or towards the coast. Take a walk to the coast and get the bus back! Details are available in the folder. Visit the caves of Nerja, the hot springs at Alhama de Granada, the Alhambra Palace in Granada, or even a trip to Gibraltar, Cordoba or Sevilla.

With 20 years of experience in Spain, the owners can organise walking or cultural holidays at certain times of the year. They can offer special festival packages with vouchers for selected restaurants, festival programmes and local travel itineraries. Main festivals take place in July and August, but there are also other interesting local events for which we can provide information on booking. They can also arrange taxis and car hire as required. There is a comprehensive information pack in the house with places to go, things to see and do, and walking routes. They can even offer a guided tour from the UK to Spain by car! Plus airport parking and hotels via their affiliates and also travel insurance.

Accommodation

Calle Carreteria sleeps up to 4 people, the accommodation comprises:

Fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker with extractor hood, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, iron, ironing board etc.
Lounge with Satellite TV.
Dining room.
Master bedroom with double bed and doors leading to a balcony.
Twin bedroom with bunk beds.
Bathroom.
Outside there is a roof terrace with table and chairs and loungers.

Due to the number of stairs in the property, Calle Carreteria is not suitable for small children or people with mobility difficulties.

Currency Converter

Prices are per week, inclusive of electricity, bed linen and towels (please bring your own beach towels) for up to five people. Short breaks are available throughout the year, please contact us for prices and availability. Changeover day is flexible. Arrival after 2pm, departure by 10am. A 50% non refundable deposit is payable on booking with the balance due four weeks before arrival.
