Casa Salares is a typical Andalucian style house. There are two floors and a large terrace.

Salares is in the Sierra Almijara and Tejeda National Park so there are many walking trails. One starts at the river across the Roman Bridge and up what was originally a small Roman road which is still there. The village of Sedella is five minutes away and Cómpeta is fifteen minutes via Canillas de Abaida. Salares has two bars one of which is round the corner from the house. There is a small shop near the plaza which sells just about all the basics one would need. There is also a post office. Salares does not allow traffic to pass on its streets, so it is very quiet. The house is near the top of the village so that it is possible to park just four or five houses away in a small parking area. There is a bus which leaves twice a day to Velez Malaga and Malaga.

The roof terrace is a great spot for alfresco dining and sitting out under the brilliant starry night skies of the Axarquia region of Malaga Province. Looking south from here one can see wonderful views of the rooftops of the village and the narrow winding roads leading down towards the Mediterranean. Turn around to the North and you will see the Sierra Almijara and the peak of Maroma at just over 6,000 feet, as well as the whitewashed village of Sedella five kilometres away.

Accommodation

The ground floor has a reception area and large double bedroom connecting with a dressing area. The Andalucian ceilings are cane and beam whilst the floors are tiled in terracotta. Bathroom comprises of a WC, washbasin and bath with shower attachment. This area was once the bodega.

A staircase leads up to the living/dining and kitchen area on the second floor. There is a sofa and a double sofa bed, coffee table, a comfortable rocker and TV with video. There is a wood burning stove and air conditioner for year round comfort. There is a dining table with four chairs. The kitchen area has a fridge, gas hob, oven, microwave and washing machine.

From the kitchen there is a small balcony overlooking the street below and from here an outside stairway leads from the balcony to the roof terrace.

There are electric radiators on each floor for the colder months.
