Casa la Piedra is an old house with a wonderfully organic feel and simple Andaluz decor in the heart of Cómpeta. This pretty white village is cradled by the Sierra Tejeda/Almijara mountains and looks across vine covered hillsides to the Mediterranean. There are beautiful old spanish olive urns and mirrors displayed. The walls are covered with paintings and photographs of local artists. There is a large roof terrace from where at certain times of the year one can see the Riff mountains of North Africa.

Casa la Piedra has some unusual architectural features; a balustrade exposing two floor levels, beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. An open fireplace and an inner courtyard of jasmin, aspidistras and exotic plants. Casa la Piedra has been sensitively restored to offer comfortable accommodation. The spacious open kitchen/dining room spans the middle floor giving a feel of light and space. Every corner of this lovely house is a haven of discovery.

Competa is lively with many bars and restaurants to choose from at affordable prices. There is a swimming pool and tennis courts in the village. It is possible to hire mountain bikes and horseriding / trekking is available close-by. The national park cradles the village and is beautiful for both serious walkers and those who like to stroll. we supply guide books of local walks and a personal guide can be organised for the more difficult walks. The beaches are half an hours drive. The port of La Caleta and the beach cafes are scattered along the coastline.

There is a big artist community in Competa. The owner of Casa La Piedra hosts a life class once a week. She is a Reflexologist/Aromatherapist and it is possible to book a treatment in advance of your arrival.

Accommodation

Although Casa la Piedra sleeps up to six guests, it's layout makes it equally suitable for smaller parties of two or four.

Living room with open fireplace and wood supplied for winter lets.
Ground floor – a small courtyard, double bedroom and bathroom. Stairs up in one direction to room with tv/video and CD/radio/cassette player and twin bedroom. Stairs in other direction to open kitchen/dining room with electric cooker, oven, two fridges, iron/ironing board and washing machine.
2nd floor – twin bedroom, double bedroom and bathroom.
Stairs up to spacious roof terrace which is half covered in the summer to provide extra shade. A large table seats 8 (with chairs), also a smaller round iron table (seats 2).
There is a utility room which holds extra furniture and barbeque.

There is a heater on each floor and two portable fans for summer lets.
Parking is a short distance from the house.
A cot can be hired locally (20 euro per week).

Please note: This is not a house for people with toddlers or mobility problems.

Rates

The Euro price may vary according to exchange rates at the time of booking. Prices are per week, inclusive of electricity, bed linen and towels (please bring your own beach towels). A 10% discount will be offered to bookings of over 2 weeks. Changeover day is flexible. Arrival after 2pm, departure by 10am. A 50% non refundable deposit is payable on booking with the balance due four weeks before arrival.
