Traditional 2 bedroom village house situated in white village of Competa, Andalucia, backing the Sierra de Almijara mountains. Under 80 mins to Malaga airport.

On the ground floor, there is a comfortable lounge with TV (+sat Eng), small steps leading to modern kitchen and separate diningroom with a sofabed suitable for a young person/child. The twin and double bedrooms are on the next floor with the roof terrace and bathroom on the 3rd floor with superb views over the rooftops and mountains.

Relax on the roof terrace at sunset enjoying a pre dinner drink. The village is really welcoming with friendly bars and restaurants, many with live music. Also 2 local pools, 1 covered. A perfect location, quiet side street yet close to shops restaurants and main square. Internet cafes and WIFI available. Hikes and walks in the sierras, tours, tennis and horse riding close by. Convenient for discovering pueblos blancos (whitewashed villages) of Axarquia, and only 1.5 hours from Granada with renown Alhambra 10C, absolute must to see.

Axarquia is a most beautiful part of Andalucia, Spain, with spectacular mountain views, terraced hillsides and fertile valleys. Orchards of orange and olive trees. Only 45 km east of Malaga, about an hour away. Plenty of Moorish history to see in Andalucia,and more locally the famous caves of Nerja, water park in Velez, markets at Torre del Mar and in most of the villages, museums in Malaga, lovely unspoilt beaches, horse riding in the mountains, guided mountain walks, maybe even skiing in Granada (under 2 hours away) with the famous Alhambra palace. The Axarquia region is unspoilt and is a perfect area to discover by car, by bike or on foot. Avocado plantations, almonds, olive trees and citrus fruits abound. The beaches on the coast have sunbeds and shades, local beach restaurants and are not crowded. Easy to get to and park. Nearby shopping in Velex Malaga. Competa itself is a growing village, full of life ready to welcome you, cosmopolitan yet with essential Spanish life.

Beautiful walks can be done straight from the village and there are many hikers maps that can be obtained from the tourist office - we have some in the house already. Make the most of cheaper fares to go walking in Winter Spring when wildlife, fauna and flora abound, aswell as the Autumn when the heat of summer has abated. Axarquia and Andalucia are exciting areas to explore, steeped in history going back to the time when this area was inhabited by the Moors from Africa, with beautiful examples in the well known town of Granada, but many other villages have a lot of history. We can put you in touch with a local organiser who leads walks into the high sierra. 

Accommodation

Casa Triana comfortably sleeps up to 4 people (plus baby/toddler). However there is a sofabed in the dining room which could be used for an additional young person/child.

Prices are per week, inclusive of electricity, bed linen and towels (please bring your own beach towels) for up to six people. To help with flight costs, there is no specific changeover day between September and June. Peak season changeover day is Thursday, which saves money on flight costs. Arrival after 2pm, departure by 10am. A 25% non refundable deposit is payable on booking with the balance due six weeks before arrival.
